Our Story

The vision that brought JJM Nichols-Roy College to life

The Need & Vision

The Church of God, Meghalaya and Assam, one of the larger Christian denominations in Meghalaya with presence in several states, recognized a crucial need. While the Church successfully operated Primary, Secondary, and Higher Secondary Schools, along with the Nichols-Roy Bible College, there was a pressing requirement for a secular college.

This institution would serve students from rural areas who had been deprived of seats in Shillong's colleges. The vision was clear: provide quality higher education to those who needed it most, bridging the gap between urban and rural educational opportunities.

The Foundation Decision

On July 22nd, 2015, during a meeting of the General Ministerial Business Council (the apex body of the Church), a resolution was passed to establish a college under Church sponsorship. The Church of God Business Association was authorized to implement this transformative vision.

The proposed name was decided: JJM Nichols-Roy College, Shillong, with the Church of God Business Association as the Sponsoring Authority. An Adhoc Committee was formed to expedite the process, targeting the 2018-19 Academic Session for the college's opening.
